ISO 27001

Build an ISO 27001 Program That Stands up to Review

ISO 27001 certification can help your company answer enterprise security requirements with a recognized information security management system, or ISMS. If a customer, investor, or procurement team has asked for ISO 27001, you need more than a set of policies. You need a program that reflects how your business actually handles risk, security, people, and technology.

01

Turn Certification Into a Usable Security Program

ISO 27001 is a management standard, not a one-time checklist. It asks you to identify information security risks, select appropriate controls, assign ownership, document decisions, and show that the program is being reviewed and improved over time.

Our ISO 27001 certification services focus on the work that makes the audit process more manageable while giving your team a security program you can use in customer reviews and day-to-day operations.

  • Define an audit scope that fits your product, team, systems, and business goals
  • Perform a risk assessment and create a practical risk treatment plan
  • Develop policies, procedures, evidence, and a Statement of Applicability
  • Implement and document security controls across people, processes, and cloud systems
  • Prepare your team for auditor questions, internal audits, and management review
02

Prepare for the Phase 1 Audit

Phase 1 is the certification body’s review of your ISMS design and readiness. The auditor typically examines whether your scope, risk assessment process, policies, control selections, internal audit, and management review are in place. This stage identifies gaps to address before the deeper operational review.

Before Phase 1, we work with your team to organize the core elements of the ISMS and confirm that documentation matches how your company operates. That includes clarifying control owners, collecting initial evidence, and resolving areas that could create confusion during the audit. The goal is not paperwork for its own sake. It is a clear, defensible system that your team can maintain.

03

Complete the Phase 2 Audit with Confidence

Phase 2 evaluates whether the ISMS is operating as documented. The auditor reviews evidence, interviews relevant team members, and tests whether selected controls are working in practice. This can include access reviews, security training, vendor management, incident response, change management, risk treatment, and cloud security practices.

During this phase, Mr.Compliance helps you prepare evidence, coordinate responses, and explain your program clearly. If the auditor identifies nonconformities, we help your team understand the finding and prepare an appropriate corrective action response. Certification is followed by ongoing surveillance audits, so the work continues after the initial audit.

04

Get Guidance Beyond Compliance Software

Vanta, Drata, Scrut Automation, and AuditBoard can be useful for organizing evidence, monitoring controls, and assigning tasks. They do not replace decisions about audit scope, risk treatment, policy design, control applicability, or how to respond when your actual environment does not fit a template.

Mr.Compliance can work with your existing compliance platform or without one. Our approach is practical and guided by the requirements of ISO 27001, your customer commitments, and the way your business works. We have supported more than 100 companies and maintain a 100% audit pass rate.
